GTK-Wimp integrated into GTK+

GTK-Wimp has been integrated into GTK+. As part of the integration, it has been renamed to "MS-Windows Engine". If the need arises, it is still possible to release a GTK-Wimp version separately from GTK+. However, the goal is to play nice with the GTK+ release cycle. Details:

The trigger to the integration was GTK+ bug 109615
The CVS archive at SourceForge is now officialy obsolete.
The new location is gtk+/modules/engines/ms-windows/ over at GNOME CVS.
Please use GNOME's bugzilla from now on to report problems and patches.

Superfluous scrollbars (scrollbars whose page length is greater than the maximum range) are now drawn disabled. Proper gripper drawing for handle boxes/toolbars. HandleBoxes and Toolbars are etched-in now.

Dom Lachowicz improved XP theme switching for GTK+ 2.4 and tweaked the icon sizes to match Windows, John Ehresman fixed a memory leak. Yours truly (Raymond Penners) did nothing, except for packaging and releasing.

Improved theming of sliders, improved the color of menu bars, corrected toolbar button borders, fixed problems with several of Gimp's widgets (particularly its option menus), fixed colors for the expander's +/- part when selected/insensitive.

Pressed toolbar steppers get drawn ETCHED_IN now. Menubars now have their shadow set to NONE, which is generally more consistent. Setup menu and toolbar icon sizes to Windows defaults. Non-standard color schemes, for example "Brick", are handled properly now. XP scrollbar grippers are no longer displayed when they do not fit on the scrollbar.

XP scrollbars now have grippers and should be indistinguishable from native scrollbars. Furthermore, menu items and menu separators are themed, as well as status bar resize grips. New for developers is the fact that GTK-Wimp now compiles with MinGW.

The Gaim buddy icons were still not drawn correctly, even with 0.4.2. This time, I tested the problem more thoroughly and now I really fixed the problem. So, 0.4.3 should be the best release so far. Hopefully, it gets included as default into the GTK Windows installer.

Another emergency update. Some changes in 0.4.1 had an unforeseen impact and were backed out. The trouble was that buddy icons disappeared in Gaim.

This is a minor update to iron out some bugs. Particularly, obscure console messages caused by the previous version have been fixed. It also includes a few new tweaks: tree expanders look a bit better in the non-XP case now, and the cursor blink time has been adjusted to follow the Windows setting.

Dom Lachowicz joined in and did most changes for 0.4.0. Most important changes: enable proper fonts/sizes for menus, status bars. Handle boxes/panes now do XP style REBAR theming. Toolbars should draw the REBAR part properly. Menubars and toolbars now are etched-in to mimic Windows' behavior. Furthermore, scrollbar sizes, radio/check button sizes, paned sizes tooltip color/font, font preferences including bold or italic are now all properly adhered to. Thanks, Dom!

The proposed revision contains a set of serious challenges to Open Source development since regulation regarding software patents will be broadly extended and might forbid independent development of innovative (Open Source and not) software-based solutions. GTK-Wimp 0.3.0 released. Now tooltips and progress bars nicely adhere to the system colors as well. There was a mixup in drawing the proper checkbox state, fixed. Disabled the colored, alternating rules for GtkTreeViews to match the Windows behaviour. The open/close tree expander symbols were accidentally switched, fixed. The menu background color now follows XP's color scheme.

GTK-Wimp 0.2.0 released. Added XP theming support for progress bars, list headers, entry widgets, radio buttons, option menus and tree expanders. Tabs not located on top of the notebook were not rendered properly using XP theming. Added fallback to non-XP theming behaviour if the tabs are not located on top. This will have to do for now, expect better notebook support in the next release.
